Discover the Heart of Seoul

From lively shopping districts and serene landscapes to cultural sites, savor Seoul in South Korea, Land of the Morning Calm.

About Your Trip

Old meets new in Seoul, South Korea’s cultural epicenter and megacity with approximately 10 million people. Delve into the heart and soul of this vivacious city with a range of tour stops that showcase the ancient and the modern. Your first outing brings you to N Seoul Tower, a former radio station built in 1969. From an observation deck, you’ll get a good idea of the city’s intriguing landscape with 360-degree views. Head to the bustling, artsy Insadong district, and stock up on souvenirs and crafts such as pottery and traditional tea sets. After lunch, depart for Gyeongbokgung Palace, the former home of royalty during the Joseon dynasty (1392-1897). Downtown, you’ll visit Gwanghwamun Square, home to several statues of historically significant figures. Then, at nearby Cheonggyecheon Stream, stroll the paved pathway set with bridges, waterfalls and parks.

During your next full-day tour, venture to the outskirts of the city, away from the crowds, to Namiseom, a tranquil island-art community. It formed in 1944 due to dam construction and boasts a peaceful hideaway with wide open spaces and wildlife. Next, spice it up and make traditional gochujang, a popular chili pepper-based condiment that’s been used throughout the ages as a base ingredient for many Korean recipes. End your day at one of the city’s busiest shopping districts, Myeong-dong, made up of high-end retail shops and department stores

What we love:
• Set on Namsan Mountain in the center of the city, N Seoul Tower stands 780 feet (238 meters) high, with the observatory level at 453 feet (138 meters) in the air.
• Crafts in the Insadong district may date back to 57 B.C.
• The 1395 Gyeongbokgung Palace is part of the larger Gyeongbokgung complex of gates, bridges, pavilions and historical buildings.
