Sights of the Smokies

Explore the beautiful Great Smoky Mountain Region and learn about the history of the area.

About Your Trip

Embark on an outstanding adventure in the Great Smoky Mountain region on the Sights of the Smokies tour. Start off your elaborate excursion in Gatlinburg to learn the lively history of the town. Among many other highlights, Gatlinburg is known for the Ripley’s Gatlinburg Aquarium and the Gatlinburg Space Needle. Head to the top of the mountain to Rockefeller Memorial on Newfound Gap Rd – a fitting memorial to Rockefeller for his dedication of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 1940. Enjoy a driving tour through Pigeon Forge before resting for a delicious, locally sourced lunch at Elvira’s Cafe. Depart for the pastoral city tour of Townsend – known as the “Peaceful Side of the Rockies” – and then continue to the community of Walland for a trip up to the scenic Foothill Parkway East for awe-inspiring mountain views. Return to Townsend to visit the Apple Valley Country Store & Cafe for souvenirs and refreshments.

What we love:
• Titanic Pigeon Forge is considered the world’s largest Titanic Museum Attraction.
• See the “Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Show” about the region’s most famous feud.
• The Great Smoky Mountains, home to more than 3,500 plant species and many endangered animal species, were designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1983.
